Meet Miss Skonieczny
A beautiful summer morning at Zilker
My name is Dawn Skonieczny (Sku-nez-knee) and I come to Austin via Litchfield, Connecticut. This is my 13th year at Bridge Point and I am beginning my 26th year of teaching Kindergarten.
I graduated from Southern CT State University with a B.S. in Early Childhood Education in 1992. In 2001, I graduated from Central CT State University with a M.S. in Early Childhood Education.
I played basketball and ran track during my undergrad at Southern. While in Connecticut, I also coached high school girl’s basketball for 9 years and assisted the high school track team. Being involved in sports my whole life has given me rewards both on and off the court. I developed a strong work ethic as well as a sense of responsibility and commitment.
I adopted a dog seven years ago and she was pregnant. Surprise! It was a once in a lifetime adventure that I will always treasure! This summer, Roxie and I spent almost every day hiking and swimming on the greenbelt. Roxie has her Canine Good Citizen Certificate which allows her to come to school. I have done it for the past six years and it has been an amazing experience for the children. Roxie is a gentle and loving dog. Ask anyone who has met her!
I moved to Austin thirteen years ago to be closer to my brother Dean, his wife Paige and their triplet boys (Nate, Hank and Luke)! This year, my nephews will be 8th graders at HCMS. Right after my venture here, my oldest brother David also made the move from Chicago! It is great to be so close to my family. They are very important to me and I spend as much time as I can with them.
I am looking forward to a wonderful year with your child. I will do everything I can to support you and your child through the amazing journey that is Kindergarten. Please feel free to contact me at anytime with questions/concerns or just to chat!
